Stoke-on-Trent City Council is a partner of the EU PLEEC (Planning of Energy Efficiency Cities) project, which involves 18 partners in 13 EU countries
As part of this project CAG and Aether worked with the City Council and their partners to develop a strategy for energy efficiency in the city. The outcomes are providing the evidence base for potential further work streams on energy efficiency across different sectors and specialisms that are related to energy efficiency (e.g. statutory planning policy).
The project included:
- A review of the key policy drivers for energy efficiency in Stoke-on-Trent.
- A SWOT assessment to determine thematic opportunities for Stoke-on-Trent to improve its energy efficiency.
- Analysis of the available data for energy efficiency in the city to identify current trajectories and opportunities for improvement.
- Stakeholders were engaged to determine next steps for the city in order to advance and better coordinate the energy efficiency agenda.
The project report includes a series of recommendations for the future direction of work in the area, with predominant themes for action being around planning and governance.
