Climate Resilience & Adaptation

Our climate is rapidly changing and impacts are already being seen in all sectors. Understanding the risks and opportunities this presents is of increasing importance to many organisations and communities.

climate risk assessment

We provide cost effective and robust assessment of climate risks and adaptation measures to businesses, communities and public bodies.

We have developed a flexible, practical methodology that allows us to carry out area-based assessments of current and future climate risks and opportunities. Every assessment is unique and tailored to the local area, using UKCP18 climate forecasts and known local vulnerabilities.

Assessments can be carried out for local authorities, Local Economic Partnerships and Health Trusts.
Our assessments can include development of a risk matrix and strategic action plan that aligns with the UK’s national Climate Change Risk Assessment CCRA3.

We can also carry out deep-dives, geo-spatial mapping and bespoke planning with stakeholders for areas of local concern.

COMMUNITY adaptation

Our stakeholder engagement experts support communities and other stakeholders to respond to the impacts of our changing climate.

We help statutory agencies to engage with communities affected by climate risks, such as flood events. We can assist in the development of action plans, resilience plans and advise on good practice. We can also combine our engagement and governance expertise with the technical skills of our associates, where engineering solutions are needed.

Flood Risk

Our expertise in flood risk management helps organisations and communities improve their preparation and response to flooding.

Here in the UK, increased flood risk is one of the most direct and immediate impacts of our changing climate.

Our work on the national evaluation of arrangements for managing local flood risk in England has given our team invaluable insights into the complexities of flood risk management and an understanding of how good practice can be achieved.

We also have packages of support available for commission by business networks, local authorities and LEPs who wish to support their SMEs in flood risk areas. We provide tools, guidance and one-to-one support to SMEs to help them understand their unique vulnerabilities and take first steps in planning their emergency and longer-term responses.
