Community Consultation for the Meonside Beavers for Nature Project

Facilitation, Consultation And Training, Natural environment

CAG Consultants have been working with the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) to design and execute a bespoke community consultation for the Meonside Beavers for Nature Project.

The Meonside Beavers for Nature Project, proposed by Wilson Atkinson Farms and supported by SDNPA, aims to reintroduce beavers to Oxenbourne Stream, a tributary of the River Meon. The project will restore the rare chalk river habitat, enhancing biodiversity and ecosystem health. In partnership with the Beaver Trust, a beaver family will be relocated from Scotland, with a secure 2.19ha enclosure to prevent their escape.

The public consultation we ran not only garnered strong community support but also provided essential evidence to successfully secure project funding and identify future volunteers for the project, supporting the project’s viability.  You can read more about our approach in this case study.

CAG Consultants provided a thorough and impartial consultation process, capturing the community’s voice and ensuring a transparent and informative engagement. The insights gained have been invaluable in shaping the Meonside Beavers for Nature Project” South Downs National Park Authority
