Mapping Urban Heat Risk
Mapping heat risk – exploring options for developing Urban Heat Island Maps for local authorities and other public bodies
💻 Free online webinar
🗓 11 June 2026
⏰ 1–2pm BST
The Climate Change Committee has warned that future heat will risk the health and lives of vulnerable people. Their 2025 Adaptation Progess Report warns that heat related deaths are likely to exceed 10,000 in an average year by 2050.
In this webinar, we’ll be exploring why mapping heat at a local scale is critical in a warming climate, why it’s so difficult to get good local urban heat maps, and ways we can work with the data we have. We’ll also be asking participants for their feedback on some ideas we have for improving data access.
The webinar is open to all local authorities and other public bodies in the UK, and is free to attend. Please register here.
The webinar will be presented by CAG Partner Derek Morgan. Derek has over 20 years experience of supporting organisations on climate adaptation and in carrying out risk assessments. He was lead author of CAG’s recent report for Climate Change Committee looking at Local Authority Duties and Powers on Adaptation.
